Why Is President Buhari Hiding His State Of Health – Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make his state of health public to Nigerians . Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Friday, Mr. Soyinka said the current speculations about the president’s health is “unnecessary.” “Why is the president hiding his state of health? He’s supposed to understand he’s public property, me I’m still private property, that’s why I’m not in Aso Rock,” said Mr. Soyinka, a professor of Comparative Literature. “Once you are in Aso Rock, or you occupy a similar position, you have a responsibility to come out frankly to your citizens. “Guarding your state of health like Donald Trump is guarding his tax returns is not what we expect from a Nigerian president. “Let him address the nation and stop all these speculations which creates unnecessary political manipulations among other things.” Details later…

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu Faces Trial Over Neymar Deal

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will stand trial for his involvement in the signing of Neymar after his appeal was rejected by a court on Thursday. Bartomeu, vice-president to Sandro Rosell at the time of the 2013 deal, faces fraud and corruption charges after a complaint was lodged by Brazilian investment company DIS. In February, it was announced that Neymar had lost his final appeal and would stand trial on corruption charges related to the transfer. Rosell, Barcelona, Brazilian club Santos and the company run by Neymar’s parents also lost appeals and will stand trial. On Thursday, Spain’s National Court ruled that Bartomeu was involved in the transfer to the same level as Rosell. DIS have called for a five-year prison sentence for the Barca chief. Prosecutors, meanwhile, are seeking a two-year sentence and a fine of nearly €10 million for both Neymar and his father on corruption charges.. The FCT Minister, Malam Mohammad MusaBello pledges to end multiple taxation

With the reconstitution of the Federal Capital Territory Inland Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), the necessary machinery has been set in motion to end multiple taxation in the territory. The FCT Minister, Malam Mohammad Musa Bello, stated this yesterday in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) who paid him a courtesy call. The minister revealed that one of the quick wins expected from the recently reconstituted FCT-IRS was able to elimination of multiple taxation in the territory and harmonisation of all taxes payable to government. And he also  noted that multiple taxation had been of great concern to various business entities in the FCT, including NECA, adding that eliminating it would enhance ease of doing business in the territory. The Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB,) has called on its members to ensure that every roads leading to South-East zone were blocked on 30 May, a day set aside to honour its members who lost their lives during the civil war. $43m Osborne Fund: Money belongs to Rivers govt – SENATOR George Sekibo

ABUJA—SENATOR George Sekibo (PDP, Rivers East) yesterday, told the senators during plenary that the $43 million recovered at a luxury apartment building in Osborne, Ikoyi, Lagos, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, belongs to the Rivers State Government. Sekibo alleged that the said apartment belongs to the former governor of Rivers  State, adding that if the apartment belonged to the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, the EFCC would not have gone there because they are interrelated. A Lagos-based woman slumped and died minutes after arriving Uyo from Lagos, reprorts say. According to an eye witness, a co-passenger revealed that the woman’s husband brought her to the motor park in Lagos looking weak and sick. The eye witness identified as Ab Isong speaking further said “I went to Item Park long distance bus terminus where i was expecting a parcel from Lagos. On arrival I saw an unusual crowd and I decided to get close. Only to find this woman dead and laid beside the young shall grow bus which transported her to Uyo. “I was privileged to ask a co-passenger who boarded same vehicle with her from Lagos to Uyo.
