Former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote’s Beijing Enterprises team-mates paid their respects on Tuesday to the Ivory Coast star,  who died in hospital last week after collapsing during a training session . The 30-year-old’s family flew to China after Tiote’s tragic death and attended the ceremony. They will accompany his body back to the Ivory Coast on Wednesday, where a private funeral service will be held for family, including 50 brothers and sisters, and friends. Tiote’s loved ones and friends are still waiting for official confirmation of the cause of the former Anderlecht, FC Twente and Newcastle midfielder’s death. Fans also paid their respects outside the memorial venue, with an impressive R.I.P banner showing Tiote in a range of kits from his colourful career.

The NANS  Chairman (who was also in the bus) amidst tears told me this morning that a student activist has lost his leg. The worst thing about the whole fateful event is that the doctors in the various hospitals where they were mobilised to so as to fast track the treatment are not “doing anything” likewise the Lagos State Government they have links with. A pastor with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Wale Solomon, is battling for his life in an undisclosed hospital on the Lagos Island after he was allegedly attacked by some cult members suspected to be Badoo. The father of three was sleeping with his family in their house on Obayemi Street, First Gate, Ikorodu, when the hoodlums stormed the house around 2am on Saturday. The men were said to have smashed the mortar on the victim’s head and injured him in different parts of his body.
