Students and staff of faculty of law,University of Uyo were today scared and shocked to their marrow due to an incident of fire outbreak. As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire outbreak was unknown but it was learnt that it started in the generator control room before spreading to to the office of the LAWSAN President. His office was minimally affected unlike the generator control room which was completely destroyed.Before the Fire Service Unit of the University arrived could arrive the scene,the students had already rallied round and halted the spread of the fire outbreak. The manner some so called Herdsmen are operating with impunity is getting really worrisome. A woman was on Sunday rped by suspected herdsmen at a farm at Ubuneke-Ivbiaro community in Owan East local government area. The woman was said to have been rped after the herdsmen beat up her husband while they were at the farm. Husband of the rped victim who gave his name as Umoru Agunu said the armed herdsmen that attacked him and rped his wife were six. According to him, “ No sooner had I arrived at my farm with my wife than I saw six armed herdsmen demanding for my phone but when I told them I don’t have any they beat me up mercilessness and took my wife to a distant where she was r ped by two of the men . They were also with a young woman who probably is their victim. A leader in the community, Yakubu Ibrahim, said farmers in the village are living in fear of armed herdsmen who, he stated, have laid siege to the community.
